The Salvation Army operates a country-wide Angel Tree program with a mission to spread Christmas morning joy to every child in need with gifts of new clothing and toys. Donors participate in two different ways: giving monetarily and/or purchasing gifts based on an “angel’s” wish list. In Huntsville, Parkway Place Mall hosts the Angel Tree program where participants may bring gifts and donations.
For the past 3 years, employees at NTA donated money and the company matched their donations for the Angel Tree program. Last year, employees donated $2,085.00 to the program and NTA matched their gifts for a total of $4,170.00 given to the Salvation Army Angel Tree program in Huntsville.
“We’re so proud of our employees for bringing in such a significant donation last winter in the middle of a pandemic. It’s important to us that we match our employees’ generosity and give back to our community, especially when so many are struggling financially,” says the President of NTA, Inc. Shannon Fields.
Kids to Love is a 501(c)(3) foundation operating out of Madison, Alabama with a history of serving over 275,000 foster children since 2004. They run multiple programs for foster children, including finding foster homes, facilitating educational programs, providing school supplies, and awarding college scholarships to chosen high school graduates. At Christmas, they offer a “Christmas for the Kids” fundraiser that, last year alone, provided Christmas gifts to 1,948 children living in foster care.
NTA, Inc. participated in the Christmas for the Kids program last year by choosing items on children’s Amazon Wishlists provided by Kids to Love. Donations included clothing (especially jackets and shoes) and fun, age-appropriate toys and items. Each child receives at least 10 gifts, ensuring that they experience a truly magical Christmas surprise!
“With these donations, we hope foster children felt love and hope after such a difficult year,” says Shannon Fields. “It’s important to us that we make an impact in our neighborhood, especially on our children, because they are the future!”
